There was a lot of speculation that the Lowell Devils might be moved to NJ after the lease ended in Dec. 2007, but it looks like they're keeping them in Lowell

Does anyone have icons of any of them??
Me and notevenu met up at All American Ford to get John Madden's autograph. Colin White was there too, so that was cool. It was a surprisingly small turnout. I guess it didn't help that Brodeur was doing a signing in Wyckoff and then I heard later that Gionta was doing a signing in Livingston. Oh well, I felt bad for them though. I put some pictures up on Yahoo, if anyone's interested. I added them with the pics from the Devils practice and Lowell/Philly AHL game we went to at South Mountain back in September.

Jim Fahey Placed On Waivers

Looks like Hale is back in and Fahey is out. Leave it to Everson to make it look more negative than it is. With Hale back, the Devils have on defense:
Hale, Oduya, White, Martin, Rafalski, Lukowich

Plus, Alex Brooks has been playing very well as a 7th defenseman and Matvichuk is supposedly going to be back at some point in December. So, I think someone had to go. Unless he gets picked up, you'll probably be seeing him in Lowell. I think he'll be good there. He was doing a decent job in NJ.
Sadly, Johnny Oduya got called up. Hopefully he'll be back in time for Manchester and maybe we can have the delight of yelling "Fukufuji! Oduya!" in a single game. (I'm so mature.)

Anyway, here's the roster.

Could be a good game tomorrow. Albany is getting destroyed (6-0) by Rochester tonight, so they'll definitely be coming into their old home looking for blood. (On that topic, Bayda's been in the box twice. Such a goon, that one.)

Current Music: still some video game
Not like I didn't email about half this community from work today with this, but for those who missed it:

Lowell had a new mascot. And the poor little puppy needs a name.

The Nameless One

(I was thinking along the lines of "Cerberus". But I think that's a little to hoi-polloi for this organization. Maybe "Lou-cifer Lamoriello"? No? I bet it'll be something dumb-ass like "Devin the Devil Dog.")

Versus (formerly OLN) has a series called "Soul of a Champion," and this week's focus is on Martin Brodeur. We caught the show last night and it was worth watching. It's going to be repeated over the next few days. Here's a link to the site for more scheduling info. Just scroll down to "show schedule."

Hockey's Future has a nice Lowell Devils season preview up on their site.
Finally. An official team (ish). Just in time for our pre-season game here in Lowell on Friday night. (Vs. the Portland Pirates).

East Rutherford, NJ (Sept. 26, 2006) – The New Jersey Devils reduced their training camp roster, by assigning 25 players to their top development team, the American Hockey League’s Lowell Devils, and returning four players to their junior teams.

Assigned to Lowell were: goaltenders Frank Doyle, Gregg Naumenko and Jordan Parise; defensemen Alex Brooks, Mark Fraser, Tomas Harant, Nate Kiser, Eric Lundberg, Olivier Magnan, Dan McGillis, Bryan Miller and Mike Mottau; and forwards Nicklas Bergfors, Patrick Davis, Stephen Gionta, Ivan Khomutov, Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond, Chris Minard, Ryan Murphy, Mike Pandolfo, Justin Papineau, Rod Pelley, Jason Ryznar, Aaron Voros and Petr Vrana. Returned to their junior teams were defensemen Matthew Corrente (Saginaw, OHL), Kirill Tulupov (Chicoutimi, QMJHL) and Sean Zimmerman (Spokane, WHL); and forward Kyell Henegan (Shawinigan, QMJHL).

Ahhhh. Dan McGillis. Can I mention that I wasn't really a fan when he was with the Bruins?

Devils Training Camp Roster

They've got Mike Pandolfo, Stephen Gionta, and Jordan Parise all on there. Think Lou has developed a complex because of Niedermayer? I think Mike Pandolfo has tried out before, so I don't know how good he is, but it would be great to see S. Gionta make the team. Also Matthew Corrente is on the list. I doubt he'll make the team this year, but if he somehow manages to, Lou will look like a genius for drafting him when he did.
